When we first moved to Nova Scotia, we moved to a small town called River Philip.
There were numerous events that happened in our home, my brother witnessed a woman sitting in a chair at the end of the bed, when he asked our mother why she was watching him sleep she said she wasn't, she was in the kitchen cooking.
We had an unfinished part of our house, which a mentally handicapped man lived when our house was the Pugnose Inn, he worked for his keep, in my room was a door that connected to the unfinished part, I used to hear what sounded like work boots walking around in there at night, I've seen a woman out of the corner of my eye there.
Our neighbor called one day asking my mom to come to our front window, so she did and our neighbor asked who the woman was standing beside her. My mom said there's no one beside me and our neighbor said, I can see her standing right beside you!
Those are just a couple of things that had happened in that house growing up.

History
According to Will R. Bird, chairman of the Nova Scotia Historic Sites Advisory Council, there were many early references to the famous Pugnose Inn located in River Philip, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.
The Pugnose Inn offered overnight lodging, a full meal, stabling of horses and change of horses. Judge Haliburton is said to have written, "The Pugnose Inn at River Philip and the Inn at Truro are the best inns in Nova Scotia".
Joseph Howe, Dr. Charles Tupper and MacFarlane were among the important persons frequenting the Pugnose Inn (1860's).
